Shraddha tithi calculator
From a date of passing, find the lunar tithi and paksha on which the annual Shraddha is observed.
Free with a Sivayan account — sign up takes under a minute.
In Hindu tradition the annual Shraddha (rites for ancestors) is performed not on the solar date of passing but on the lunar tithi that prevailed at that time - most often during the Krishna paksha and especially during Pitru Paksha (Mahalaya).
Enter the date, time and place of passing and Sivayan computes the exact tithi and paksha from the Moon's position relative to the Sun.
What you get

Common questions
Hindu ritual time is lunar - the rites follow the tithi (lunar day) that prevailed at passing, which recurs on a different solar date each year.
A fortnight (the Krishna paksha of Bhadrapada/Ashwin) dedicated to ancestral rites; the deceased's tithi within it is when Shraddha is commonly performed.
The tithi can change during a day, so the time improves accuracy near a tithi boundary.
It computes the astronomical tithi; for ritual specifics, follow your family tradition or priest.
