Ashtakavarga is one of the most powerful transit-assessment tools in Vedic astrology. Each of the seven classical planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn) and the ascendant casts benefic points (bindus) across the twelve signs, based on classical Parashara contribution tables. These are summed into a per-planet Bhinnashtakavarga (BAV) and then into a combined Sarvashtakavarga (SAV).
Sivayan computes the full three-stage Ashtakavarga (Stage 1: raw BAV → Stage 2: Trikona Shodhana → Stage 3: Ekadhipatya Shodhana) to produce values that match JHora's output. Strong signs with ≥30 SAV bindus sustain transiting planets well; weak signs with ≤25 slow them down.
What you get
Sarvashtakavarga (SAV)
Combined 12-sign bindu totals across all seven planets. Strong sign ≥30 bindus, weak ≤25.
Bhinnashtakavarga (BAV)
Per-planet 12-sign bindu tables for Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn.
Trikona & Ekadhipatya Shodhana
Both classical reductions applied, matching Parashara's BPHS and JHora reference output.
Transit strength
A planet transiting a sign with high own-BAV bindus operates more freely; low bindus signal obstruction.

Common questions
Ashtakavarga ("eight-fold division") assigns benefic bindus across the 12 signs based on the positions of 7 planets and the ascendant - 8 contributors total. High bindus in a sign help planets transiting there; low bindus impede them.
BAV (Bhinnashtakavarga) is the per-planet bindu table - each planet has its own 12-sign row. SAV (Sarvashtakavarga) is the sum of all 7 BAV tables, giving a combined score per sign.
A sign is considered strong when its SAV total is 30 or more bindus (average = 337/12 ≈ 28). Scores of 25 or less are weak. Individual BAV rows: 6+ bindus strong, 1 or fewer weak.
A reduction step (one of two) that removes the minimum bindu count from each trikona (fire, earth, air, water sign sets). It is applied before computing Sodhya Pinda and before Ekadhipatya Shodhana.
Yes - the three-stage computation (raw BAV → Trikona Shodhana → Ekadhipatya Shodhana) is aligned with JHora's output based on Parashara's BPHS Ch.66--68.
